Knowledge Representation: A General Survey and Techniques for Sound Knowledge Based Systems

Knowledge Representation,KR, is one of the important factors that determine human performance on cognitive tasks. In trying to understand it, there is the strong need to know the basic different types of Knowledge in existance and also to know the various techniques needed to study and represent knowledge. Different KR schemes are appropriate depending on tasks and circumstances. In this paper, an attempt was made to shed more light on KR, and to look at some techniques for it in the real world, with the view to understand their relevance and to realise their crucial usefulness in the development of effective Knowledge based, KB, Systems which form a fundamental foundation for quality information integration and general Knowledge Management,KM.
